Managing workflow as an ECR is tough. Teaching, admin, and pastoral duties tend to make a lot of noise, which can push research to the back of the cue. If this sounds like you, you’re not alone. Back in 2014, Prof. Tara Brabazan and her colleague Randa Khatta provided a short podcast on their approach to dealing with such issues (you can listen to the podcast here). During their discussion, the two academics suggested a ranking system to identify which manuscript should be tackled first. As I think this is a reasonably good idea, I’ve knocked together and Google spreadsheet. The spreadsheet includes a rough scale, the four scoring categories, and a simple =sum function to help you to work out which manuscript you should probably tackle first.
